Privacy Policy
Fight the Bite LLC ("we", "us", "our", or "Fight the Bite") operates the website fightthebitellcnj.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from visitors, how we use it, when and how we share it, and the choices you have. We've kept it as plain-spoken as we can. If anything here is unclear, call Anthony directly at (732) 272-1929.
Information we collect
Information you provide
When you submit a contact form, request a quote, send us an email, call us, or text us, we collect only the information you voluntarily share, which typically includes:
- Your name
- Phone number (mobile or landline)
- Email address
- Service address (street, city, ZIP)
- Details about your property and the service you're considering
- Any other information you choose to include in your message
We do not require any of this information beyond what's needed to respond to your specific inquiry. We do not collect Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, payment card information through this Site, or any other sensitive personal data through web forms.
Information automatically collected
Our Site uses standard web analytics (Google Analytics) to understand how visitors find us and which pages they read. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you. Information collected automatically may include:
- IP address (truncated for privacy)
- Browser type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Referring website
- Approximate geographic location (city/region level)
We use a single anonymous analytics cookie for this purpose. You can decline cookies on your first visit using our cookie banner, clear them anytime in your browser settings, or use browser features that block them entirely.
How we use your information
We use the information you provide for the following purposes only:
- To respond to you — return your call, send a quote, schedule an estimate, or answer a question
- To provide service — schedule and perform mosquito or tick treatments, send appointment confirmations and reminders, follow up after a treatment
- To bill and collect payment for services rendered
- To send marketing communications — only if you've explicitly opted in via our contact form's marketing checkbox
- To improve our Site — understand which pages are useful, fix issues, plan content
- To meet legal obligations — comply with tax, regulatory, and legal requirements
SMS / text message consent
When you submit our contact form and provide a mobile phone number, you may also be presented with one or two opt-in checkboxes for text messaging. Each checkbox controls a different category of message:
Transactional messages
If you check the transactional messaging consent box, you consent to receive transactional text messages from Fight the Bite LLC related to:
- Service appointment confirmations and reminders
- Treatment scheduling and rescheduling notifications
- Quote follow-ups when you've requested an estimate
- Account or service-related notifications
- Responses to questions you've asked us via text
Message frequency varies based on your service activity. Standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply.
Marketing messages
If you check the marketing messaging consent box, you consent to receive marketing text messages from Fight the Bite LLC, which may include:
- Seasonal service offers (e.g., spring early-bird treatment pricing)
- Service reminders for the start of mosquito or tick season
- Promotional updates and new service announcements
Message frequency varies. Standard message and data rates may apply.
Independent consent. The two SMS consent checkboxes are independent. You can check one, both, or neither. Checking neither will not prevent us from following up with your quote request via phone or email. Consent to receive marketing messages is not a condition of receiving service from Fight the Bite.
How to opt out of SMS messages
You can stop receiving text messages from us at any time:
- Reply STOP to any text message we send. You will receive one final confirmation message and no further messages.
- Reply HELP to any text message for assistance.
- Call or email us at (732) 272-1929 or fightthebitenj@gmail.com and ask to be removed.
Opting out of marketing SMS does not affect your ability to receive transactional messages about active service appointments — those are sent only to consenting customers and only relate to scheduled work. To opt out of all messaging including transactional, contact us directly.
How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. Period.
We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
Service providers we use to run the business
To run a small business website, a few outside services are involved. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job:
- Website hosting and form processing — Netlify (form submissions are routed to our email)
- Email — Google Workspace (Gmail) for receiving and responding to inquiries
- SMS messaging platform — A licensed SMS provider that delivers transactional and marketing texts on our behalf, only after you've opted in
- Web analytics — Google Analytics for aggregated, non-identifying usage data
- Payment processing — When applicable, a third-party payment processor handles card data; we do not store credit card numbers ourselves
Lead generation partners
If you contacted us through a lead generation campaign or partner network, your information may have been shared with us by that partner under their privacy policy. Once we receive it, we treat it under this policy. If you have questions about how a partner shared your information with us, contact us and we'll help you trace it back to the source.
Legal requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, subpoena, or to protect our legal rights, prevent fraud, or address security issues.
Business transfer
If Fight the Bite LLC is ever sold, merged, or transferred, customer information may be part of the assets transferred. Any successor would be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy or notify you of any changes.
Data retention
We keep your contact information and service history as long as you're an active customer or a recent prospective customer (typically 3 years from the last interaction). After that, we either delete it or anonymize it for statistical purposes. You can request deletion at any time — see "Your rights" below.
Your rights and choices
Regardless of which state you live in, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we have about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your information from our records (some legal obligations may require us to keep certain records — we'll tell you if so)
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time
- Withdraw SMS consent at any time using the methods above
- Decline analytics cookies via our cookie banner or your browser settings
To exercise any of these rights, email us at fightthebitenj@gmail.com or call (732) 272-1929. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.
For California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we have collected about them, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of sale (we don't sell information). To exercise California rights, use the contact information above and identify yourself as a California resident.
Security
The Site uses HTTPS encryption end-to-end. Form submissions go through Netlify's spam-filtered processor straight to Anthony's email — they aren't stored in a database we maintain. Our SMS provider, email provider, and analytics provider are all U.S.-based services with their own published security practices. No internet system is 100% secure, but we don't hold information in places that are obvious targets.
Children's privacy
Our services are intended for property owners (typically adults 18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us immediately and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes (such as new ways we use information), we'll provide more prominent notice — for example, an email to active customers or a banner on the Site.
