Deal is unusual — a small, affluent borough with deep-lot estate properties, mature landscaping, and prime oceanfront. The properties are larger than most of our service area, which changes how we approach treatment. A 1.5-acre Deal property with mature plantings has totally different mosquito pressure than a 0.15-acre Long Branch lot, even though they're four miles apart.
Deal's signature: mature, ornamental landscaping. Big hedges, deep planting beds, mature shade trees, ivy beds, and pool surrounds with dense plantings. Every one of those is prime mosquito resting habitat. Once mosquitoes find a Deal property, they have ideal cool-shaded daytime resting spots and emerge at dusk to bite.
The borough's larger lots also mean more opportunities for unnoticed standing water — pool covers, decorative fountains that aren't running, drainage spots in deep gardens, French drains that hold water. Asian tigers and Culex species both breed on Deal properties readily.
Tick pressure in Deal is real, especially on properties with mature wooded sections, deep hedge rows, or proximity to the borough's small wooded greenways.
Larger lots need more perimeter coverage, and we charge accordingly — but our pricing for Deal estates is still well below what most clients expect. The treatment approach is layered: resting-site application across all hedge rows and dense plantings, perimeter treatment around the structure and pool area, granular tick barrier in any wooded sections. We coordinate with property managers and landscape crews to time treatments around scheduled lawn services so there's no conflict.
Discretion: we run unmarked work and handle estate properties professionally. Most Deal service is recurring monthly through the season.
We treat properties throughout Deal — including the oceanfront estates, Norwood Avenue corridor, Roosevelt Avenue area, the deep-lot properties west of the train, and the Phillips Avenue blocks. If your block isn't listed by name, we still cover it. Call (732) 272-1929 and we'll tell you straight whether you're in our service zone (you almost certainly are).
Anthony Howard founded Fight the Bite in 2019 and has built the business on one principle: do the work right and the customers stay. Seven years in, we have a 5-star Google rating and dozens of Deal-area regulars who renew season after season because the program actually works. No franchise upsells, no quarterly contract lock-ins, no gimmicks. Just mosquito and tick control done by someone who lives in the same county you do.
